Frequently Asked Questions:

What's the best martial arts movie out right now?

Answer: Spiderman, No Way Home.

What is a good martial arts movie to learn from?

Answer: Shang Chi.

Which Martial Arts Movie should I watch on Netflix?

Answer: The Karate Kid

What is the best Martial Arts movie of 2021?

If you don't count Spiderman, No Way Home as a martial arts movie (I definitely do), then Marvel's Shang Chi is definitely the best Kung Fu Movie of 2021.

Spiderman had some amazing choreographed fight scenes, animation and intense suspense. Equally good, in a different super hero realm emerged Disney's first Martial Arts Movie Shang Chi. Well, that's also if you don't count Mulan as a martial arts movie (which I definitely do). Heck, even Dreamworks has been pumping martial arts scenes into movies for decades like in Shrek.

Mileage is 22
It is directed by Peter Berg.
John Malkovich, Iko Uwais, and Lauren Cohan feature in the movie.
American operators, assisted by a top-secret tactical command team, must deliver a life-threatening asset to an extraction spot 22 miles away across the border from their base of operations.

They are two characters in Raya and the Last Dragon.

However, it's new to us and we wanted to mention it for others who hadn't seen it yet. Another reason to write COVID whatever the opposite of a "thank you" letter is the postponement of "Raya and the Last Dragon" to March. Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Kelly Marie Tran lends her voice to young warrior Raya, who must find and protect Kumandra's last dragon.

Toy Story and Inside Out come to mind when you think of Pixar, so a martial arts-laden epic adventure is a refreshing change of pace. It's a film that action movie buffs will want to see for both Ms. Tran's debut as a single protagonist and the high-quality animation throughout.

Russo-Japanese Conflict

In the trailer, "Russian Raid" is plainly being sold, yet one glance at the title reveals where the film's inspiration comes from.

Russian spy Nikita is recruited to take down a plant's security unit in the action film "Russian Raid," but he and his team quickly realize they are in over their heads as the mission gets underway.

Russian Raid is taking a page out of The Raid's book, but it's also adding enough of its own to give the whole thing a new twist on the idea.

It's hard to overstate the impact of "The Raid" on the action picture genre, which has influenced filmmakers for almost a decade after its release. "Russian Raid" appears to be an action-packed thriller, based on the trailer.

VA-33 was captured

Having Michael Jai White and Mark Dacascos in the same picture has been a long time in the making, and the inclusion of Sean Patrick Flanery only enhances the film's appeal.

PTSD-ridden military veteran Jason Hill and his wife are taken hostage after terrorists seize control of the VA facility. However, Sean Patrick Flanery is a Hollywood veteran and an up-and-comer in the action genre, making him an excellent choice for the role.

Actor Flanery, a skilled martial artist in his own right, has been praised for his performances in martial arts-related roles, most notably in "Born A Champion," which he also directed and produced.

Although the stakes may be a little higher in this film than in the last one, the incredible cast of martial-arts experts, including the legendary TNA/WWE wrestling world champion, Rob Van Dam are certainly bringing their A-game.

Bruised

In "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum," Halle Berry had a scene-stealing duel with Baba Yaga in the middle of the film.

In the next MMA thriller "Bruised," which will also be Berry's directorial debut, she will step out of the Continental and into the octagon.

Former MMA champion Jackie Justice, played by Halle Berry in "Bruised," returns to the ring to battle a current heavyweight while reuniting with her estranged son.

Due to Berry's fight scene injuries, "Bruised" was forced to suspend production early on. The title is appropriate in more ways than one. "Bruised" is an MMA film to keep an eye on before it debuts on Netflix later this year because of that, as well as the enthusiasm she brought to "Parabellum".

Falls from the Castle

Interested in discussing COVID's blocked action films? When "Castle Falls" was forced to shut down on its first day of production, it was just halfway done.

"The Art of Action" and YouTube tutorials kept Scott Adkins busy during the time he wasn't working on "Castle Falls," but production restarted in late 2020, and the film was completed (presumably under strict anti-COVID safety restrictions).

Following the success of action films like "The Expendables 2" and "Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning," this marks Scott and Dolph Lundgren's third collaboration. In the meanwhile, there is no release date or trailer to depend on, but the cast and crew are more than plenty to get excited about.

Even though it's not a martial arts film, Hell Hath No Fury features an impressive cast of martial arts and action actors who helped create and star in the film. After watching Jesse V. Johnson's World War II drama, you won't be able to put it down. Nina Bergman shines as the protagonist in this picture.

Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe martial arts film. If you're a newbie to film, we'd want to welcome you! Your adventure of exploration will benefit from a few additional hints from us. Even if you're a seasoned fan, is there ever a bad moment to rewatch a Jackie Chan classic? Of course not. (It was a rhetorical question, but no.)

Netflix is one of the streaming services available through Furie.

Starting with a female-led entry in a genre historically dominated by men, let's get the party started. Veronica Ngo portrays a mother who must fight her way through a horde of guys in order to retrieve her kidnapped daughter in "Furie." Even though "Taken" was one of my favorite movies when it first came out, this film's focus on mother-daughter relationship is a welcome change from the action-packed action sequences found in the original.

Detective Story 2's Golden Harvest
You may see it on the Criterion Channel.

It's only because "Police Story 2" begins with a montage of some of the best action sequences from the first film that I give it a higher rating than the original. It's not quite as organic as the original film's plot, but the battle sequences here are top-notch, culminating in a jaw-dropping finale at an abandoned warehouse full of action set-pieces that will have you drooling. That's the best way to describe this picture: it's relentless.

streaming alternatives include Netflix for Grandmaster Lark Productions (until September 26, 2021)

The Wong Kar-magnificent, the This multi-decade story centres around Ip Man, the Chinese martial arts teacher who instructed Bruce Lee and became a household name. Additionally, Donnie Yen portrays Ip Man in a series of martial arts films that are currently available on Netflix. It's no surprise that "The Grandmaster" features some of Wong's best action sequences to date. To begin with, there's a stunning slow-motion fight between Ip Man and another character, a woman named Gong Er (Zhang Ziyi), in the rain, which serves as the film's most memorable sequence.

If you enjoyed Tony Leung's portrayal of Wenwu in "Shang-Chi" as much as the rest of the audience, this would be a good follow-up.

Thailand's Muay Thai Warrior Ong-Bak Sahamongkol Film International can be shown on Tubi.

In the early 2000s, Tony Jaa was Jackie Chan's heir apparent.

When Jaa was at his peak, there was no one on screen doing what he was doing. When he unleashes flying elbows to the top of the skull, you can't help but love it.

You can watch Columbia TriStar Kung Fu Hustle on the Roku Channel, as well as Pluto TV.

If you're looking for the most creative and insane film on this list, look no further than "Kung Fu Hustle," which features individuals shooting swords out of harps and others walking on someone's toes with such force as to cause them to flatten out like Bugs Bunny. And that's not even the half of it! "Shang-Chi" producer Jonathan Schwartz mentioned to me earlier this week that this picture was a major influence on the production of "Shang-Chi."

"The transformation from Wenwu's finger rings to the kung fu, gar-inflected iron rings draped across his wrists was my favorite creative decision. "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" is a kung fu film that we saw one day in the writers' room when we needed a pick-me-up, so we switched it on, which begins with a tremendous training sequence that incorporates the iron rings. It's time to take action! As Destin pointed out, the rings of iron were exactly what he said they were. It's the greatest thing ever. In "Kung Fu Hustle," where those rings are prominent and cool, it brought back memories of that movie."
Do yourself a favor and check out "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" in addition to the five films on this list.

These films showcase a wide range of different martial arts film genres. For those who prefer a particular style, these films can serve as branches that lead to more of that style. I hope "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" will shed light on this extraordinary collection of jaw-dropping films by highlighting some of the genre's different main personalities and a rich and dynamic history.

Slashfilm has a list of five fantastic martial arts movies that will be available to stream following "Shang Chi" and "The Legend of the Ten Rings."

The Legend of the Ten Rings– Shang Chi Of all Disney Marvel films, this one has the most realistic and well-executed martial arts scenes. In the role of this animated comic book character, Simi Liu performs an outstanding job. Awkwafina is a better choice as his sidekick.

Mogadishu: Escape from Mogadishu is a fantastic film on Mogadishu's fall. Through the eyes of the North and South Korean embassies, it tells the story of the tensions and rifts between the two countries. A must-see for everyone who enjoys good movies. Go USA, on the other hand, continues to bring you the best movies from around the globe.

Argo is South Korea's Mogadishu Escape.

An example of both good and bad news may be found here. Although it's good news that a year has been added to the originally slated March 26th opening date for "John Wick 4," it's bad news for everyone else who had their release dates affected by the outbreak. In the meanwhile, "Nobody" is clearly made of the same cloth, and it appears to be more than adequate for aficionados of assassin-action films.

Odenkirk plays Hutch Mansell, an ordinary family man who is forced to employ his assassin skills once more to protect his family from a new threat.

87 Eleven's "Nobody," a follow-up to 2014's assassin-movie craze "John Wick," has a teaser that suggests it's up to the task of kicking butt in the same way.

A sharp contrast to the battle machine depicted in the trailer, the film's title is one of the most modest action movie names ever. "Nobody" may be the film's name, but it's a must-see for everyone!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Throughout the comics, he was referred to as "The Master of Kung Fu," and in the next film, "Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," those words will be brought to life.

When Tony Leung and Simu Liu's Shang Chi meet in "Iron Man 3," the fake-out version of "The Mandarin" is replaced with the real deal, with Hong Kong celebrity Tony Leung taking on the role.

In addition to Leung, Michelle Yeoh is rumored to be playing 'Jiang Nan' in the film. Due to the pandemic, the release date of "Shang Chi" has already been postponed numerous times. "Shang Chi" is currently slated to be released on July 9th. Obviously, this summer's location is up to change.

Nonetheless, Shang Chi will finally enter the ever-expanding pantheon of superhero movies with plenty of martial arts action after decades of comic book experience. On KFK, you'll find a trailer and additional information!

The Protector: Shaolin's Rise

"Rising Shaolin: The Protector" (the title is a little misleading, but that's what it's classified as on IMDB) appears to be a loving recreation of Jet Li's directorial debut, 1982's "The Shaolin Temple."

Perhaps the Western release of "Rising Shaolin," directed by Stanley Tong, known for his many collaborations with Jackie Chan, will be announced soon.

"Kung Fu Killer" star Wang Baoqiang is known for his impressive performances in films like "The Shaolin Temple," and the teaser shows a reimagining of Jet Li's "Four Seasons" training montage. "Rising Shaolin" has the potential to be a standout among the next martial arts flicks.

Iron Monkey

Even if it initially seems like a stretch to compare Yue Song to Jackie Chan, consider the amount of punishment he takes in "King of the Streets" and "Super Bodyguard" (released in the United States as "Iron Protector").

Iron Monkey" is not to be confused with Donnie Yen's 1993 film of the same name, in which Song plays an outcast named "Thunder" who joins up with an oppressive tyrant to free a group of women he's imprisoned, in the hopes that he might use a heart of theirs to extend his declining life.

This summer's release of "Iron Monkey" on VOD in China, an adaptation of Mad Max: Fury Road laced with Chinese martial arts, is a film that Western audiences will be eager to see.

Despite the fact that his last two films were jaw-dropping and full of wince-worthy moments due to Song's incredibly hard-hitting approach to action scenes, it is something to quietly praise that he puts himself through such rigors while continuously writing and directing his own work.

A US or UK release date for "Iron Monkey" has not yet been announced, but English-speaking audiences will be able to watch it shortly courtesy to Well Go USA or Hi-YAH!.

Matrix 4: The Fourth

There are a lot of franchise reboots going on these days, and "The Matrix" is one of them. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity in "The Matrix 4," which is speculated to be called "The Matrix Resurrections" or "Matrix."

Other than Daniel Bernhardt's return as Agent Johnson, little more is known about it at this time (check out our interview with Daniel where he talks a bit about it). "The Matrix" was the perfect sleeper hit in 1999 because we had no idea what we were in for.

There is no denying that "The Matrix 4" will feature gravity defying wire-fu action and the bullet-time effect, both of which are expected to be integral parts of the film.

wildfires raging out of control

Although "Raging Fire" was already included on the 2020 list, "Raging Fire" receives a second discrete column on this year's list for a very specific and, unfortunately, terrible reason.

"Raging Fire" reunites "Ip Man 4" co-stars Donnie Yen and Chris Collins, as well as director Benny Chan, who passed away from cancer in 2013. "Shaolin," "Rob-B Hood," "Invisible Target," and "New Police Story" are just a few of the action-packed films directed by Mr. Chan.

Raging Fire, the final film directed by Hong Kong action cinema legend Lau Kar-leung, will be released posthumously in July, but it will give fans a final look at one of the best in action filmmaking in the world.

This film has been likened to "Sha Po Lang" and "Flash Point" by Donnie Yen himself, which is a strong endorsement. Let's dance to "Raging Fire" together!

...and at the top of the list is...

MK (Mortal Kombat) Kung Fu Kingdom Mortal Kombat Trailer

"It has begun," Shang Tsung said in the 1995 original, is all that can be said following this trailer.

"Mortal Kombat" is the only 2021 martial arts film to have a feverish anticipation due to Warner Bros.' entire 2021 slate adopting that release strategy, with the game's terrible fatalities brought to life in a way many would never have imagined possible.

'Cole Young,' an MMA fighter played by Lewis Tan, is a new character introduced in the remake, but he already has a mysterious dragon birthmark that connects him to the battle for the fate of the realms.

No matter if you've never ever heard of these titles, you'll be blown away by the trailer and the character list, which show that no one will be sitting on the sidelines. "Mortal Kombatteaser "'s may already be the most exciting martial arts picture of the year, making one wonder how much more wild will the movie actually be!

Mortal Kombat, a long-awaited reboot of the Mortal Kombat series, has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and visuals.. There were some good things about this movie, even though it didn't have as much heart as some of the others. With Lewis Tan, a real martial artist in particular, you can find a way in and out of this world. As a result, the film was a hit with a more older audience because it upped the action.

9: Master of Kung Fu, Ip Man– There are a number of different Ip Man games out there. Unlike the Donnie Yen films, this one takes Master Ip's early life as a basis for an outlandish and enjoyable film that will keep you engaged. For those who have never seen a Donnie Yen "Ip Man" film, this is an enjoyable and visually engaging experience.

IP MAN is an expert in the martial art of Kung Fu.

Halle Berry has been slashed. I directed and starred in this Netflix and theater release about a washed-up MMA fighter trying to make a comeback. Like the original Rocky film, it has numerous parallels. However, Berry's battle choreography stands out above the rest. He shows true enthusiasm in both the dramatic and martial arts aspects of this fascinating topic.

Castle Falls is ranked as the seventh most beautiful waterfall in the world. One of the best entries of the year thus far. This martial arts action picture, directed by Dolph Lundgren and written and directed by Scott Adkins, is a superb and emotional martial arts film. Due to the Pandemic, it appeared that production would be a casualty; nevertheless, later production was resumed for a positive outcome.

5th place goes to Kate– This Netflix original film surprised our panel. Though some fans and critics were not pleased, we felt it was a fun way to spend a few hours. Attractive to the eye. Exciting fights are a treat. This made us crave Boom-Boom Lemon. Woody Harrelson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead feature in this film adaptation.

#5: There's More Than Miyagi– There's a glut of mediocre documentaries on the market. That's not the case with this one. If you're a fan of Pat Morita, you'll enjoy this film, even if he's not a martial arts movie star in and of himself.

Fourth on our list is The Protege, an action-packed summer blockbuster starring Maggie Q and Samuel L Jackson directed by Martin Campbell. This one has a decent plot, a fantastic sense of comedy, and well-executed action. Michael Keaton shines as Q's admiring foe in this film. It's clear that Campbell had a lot of fun with this one.

The answer is a resounding no. In the end, Bob Odenkirk's unexpected role as an action hero was a success. 87Eleven and Chad Stahelski's stunt crew undoubtedly shaped him into "every man's John Wick." " This is a fantastic action film that is also amusing and enjoyable. A large budget was put to excellent use in this film, unlike some of the others on the list. Hopefully, no one is just the beginning of a series.

Donnie Yen's performance in Benny Chan's final film, Raging Fire, is outstanding. It's not just the action and stunning combat choreography that elevate the film, but rather the performances of Yen and Nicholas Tse. Kung Fu movies of old are referenced in this film, but it's so much more than that.

Smoldering in "Raging Fire" is the artist Yen.

Films such as The Paper Tigers serve as reminders that a successful picture isn't about how much money it has or how many stars it has; it's about how good the script and direction are and how terrific the actors are. Films of this grade can be found here. Three elderly martial artists, battling with their own death while looking for their Master's killer, are the focus of this film. It's a show that's worth seeing again and again, and it only happens a few times a year. In addition to being the best film of the year, The Paper Tigers is also one of the greatest ever made.
